Such a pretty girl

I just had to post this picture. Hilde looks so cute in it! She looks small, which I promise is because of how she is positioned on the bed. This picture is great because you can see how Hilde's feathers have really developed. Look at that tail! Look at those pants!!! Pretty girl!

It was too quiet....

On Tuesday or Wednesday this week I was getting ready for work and Hilde was doing her own thing. I was drying my hair and realized I had neither seen nor heard Hilde in quite a while. I turned off the dryer and peeked around the corner into the living room. I was right. It had been too quiet. A kitty had kicked a blue marker off the counter and of course Hilde found it. Below are the results of the kitty/puppy alliance.

More on the other critters

Hilde loves the kitties. Maybe too much. Today Hilde brought a HUGE bone to Cleo the cat. I think she meant to be nice when she dropped it right on Cleo, but it is a really big bone. It has hit my toe before. It hurts. Here is Cleo taking refuge in a safe place. The bathroom sink. No puppies up here!

Hilde is NOT a cold dog

1. Hilde is a HOT dog
2. Hilde likes to roll in the snow
3. Hilde likes to stick her nose in the snow
4. Hilde likes to sleep pressed against the door so she can be cold. (She makes a great draft protector)
5. Hilde likes to lie in the snow with her tummy directly on the snow.

Therefore-- HILDE WOULD HATE A HAT.

Ok- I tried to put a hat on Hilde. It was -50 with the windchill!!! The hat stayed on for about 3 seconds before little Houdini had it off. I didn't make her keep it on. She hated the hat.

Hilde's weigh in

Hilde went to Chuck and Don's today. She weighs 75 pounds now. That is a three pound loss, which is the direction we are aiming for. Switching to the dog food, from the puppy food, has worked well!

Hilde does love a nature hike

Hilde and I went for a walk over lunch time today. It is supposed to get really, really cold so we had to make the most of the moderate weather while we had the chance. Below is Hilde sniffing some big "velcro" ball burrs. Hilde HATES it when they get stuck to her. It drives her nuts. I am not sure why she is sniffing/biting them because she really does not like them.

Hilde is sticking her snout in the snow next to the snow depth measuring snow man. As you can see Hilde's first winter is ideal for a snow loving dog like she is. We got about 4 inches more today so I bet we have reached a 10 inch base here in the metro. We are supposed to get two more snowfalls this week. Hilde will be in heaven.

Hilde on a "walk"

Hilde has two speeds when we walk. Speed one: all out run. Speed two: total stop. Rarely is there a happy medium.

Here is Hilde rolling in the driveway. This is the "stop" portion of our walk.

Here is Hilde chewing a stick in a snowbank. This is the "stop" portion of our walk.

Here is Hilde proudly showing all who care to look her big girl stick on a walk. This is the "stop" portion of our walk! There are very few go pictures because we are at an all out run when it is go time!

Walkies with the polar bear

Today Hilde and I went out for our lunch time walkies. The temperature had sky-rocketed to 23 by lunch time! Hilde, being part polar bear was hot. Here is Hilde dealing with the heat wave.

Welcome to the 100th post!!!!

Happy Hilde one Hundred! This is the 100th Hildepost. Today Hilde had a good day so far. She went and played with her buddy Coal this morning for quite a while. It is really cold today (about -15 with the wind). With all the romping and chewing going on, Hilde came in after playing covered in frozen doggy slobber and chunks of snow. So she had a bath. She was due anyway-- she was kind of stinky. After her bath Hilde relaxed and chewed some hoof. She currently fell asleep on her hoof while chewing it on the couch. Happy, tired puppy.
