First day of school!

Hilde's first day of school is today! She is going to "puppy kindergarten". She will learn manners, basic commands and they will help us problem solve regarding problem behaviors like jumping on people. Before you go to the first day of school what do you always need?? A new outfit!!! Here is Hilde in her first day of school outfit!!

Ok- she didn't actually wear this to school, but it would have been really cute if she did!

New Photos of the Pretty Girl!

This one really shows how big Hilde is getting!
Here is Hilde at a BBQ/farewell party for our friend Kara who is moving to Tennessee for a year.

Here is Hilde and one of her favorite hobbies-- chewing.
Can you find Hilde?? We took her for a walk one evening and she ran circles in the tall grass for at least 15 minutes. There was something just SO fun about the tall grass!!

Here is Hilde on the move at the BBQ.

Terrible Twos

Hilde who might be the cutest dog in the world has hit the terrible twos. She used to sit, come and follow the command down. Now she is running away, even though she used to stay close in the yard. She acts like she has never heard a command in her life, unless we have treats in our hands. Our neighbor caught her after she took off down the street (she is now ALWAYS on a leash) and he happens to be a vet. When I asked about her sudden command deafness he laughed and said she will be naughty like this for about a month. The good news is we are starting puppy kindergarten on Thursday. Hopefully that will help us out.

Speaking of Puppy Kindergarten! I decided I want to dress Hilde up in a first day of school outfit. Ray was not impressed with that idea.

More farm pictures.

Here are some pictures of our day at the farm on the 4th of July.

Here is Hilde and cousin Britta. Believe it or not usually Hilde was on top of Britta.

Here is Hilde keeping cool under a lawn chair.

Here are Hilde and Ray. See she doesn't bite... sometimes.

Did you get a black lab?

Hilde went to the lake today. She played with Newton the neighbor dog. They ran, romped and got filthy! Hilde swam a bunch and then dug and rolled in the dirt. She also played her favorite game-- slide down the dirt hill on your tummy. By the time we got home our dog was no longer fluffy, soft or the same color as when we left. Needless to say she got a bath- again. I am happy to say she is back to her original color.

Being this dirty must be the sign of a good time.

Even when she is filthy she is as CUTE as a button!!

Bath Time!

Hilde went to the lake for some good clean fun last week. She found a nice dirt hill to roll in and slide down on her tummy while at the lake. As a result she was a DIRTY dog. So she got a bath and didn't seem to think it was all that fun. She is getting better with them.

Happy Fourth of July!

We had a great long weekend with Hildegard. She has a new reason that Hildebeast is a fitting name. She is the chewiest, chompiest little critter there is. Ray and I are convinced she is a crocodile in puppy clothing. Good thing 1. her puppy teeth are going to fall out soon and 2. we start puppy training in a few weeks. We have lots of new pictures but I am having trouble loading them, so I will get them on the blog soon.

On the fourth of July we went to my Dad's farm and Hilde was re-named "toilet paper". I guess she looks like the dog on the toilet paper commercials. Hilde ran, roamed and chewed her way to complete exhaustion. Mostly at the expense of my brother's dog Britta. She even had residual sleepiness the next day. As the day progressed my Dad decided that "toilet paper" really would be better off at his house. She was then re-named farm puppy. Farm puppy was going to stay outside at first. Then my Dad decided she could sleep in the heated garage. Then she got promoted to the house! Now she is invited on fishing trips, to Lake Vermillion and in my Dad's collector cars. Maybe farm puppy would be spoiled puppy if she actually did live with my Dad. That is coming from me....

The rest of the weekend was really hot! Hilde does not enjoy the heat at all. We mostly stayed inside and went swimming a little bit.

We went to the vet on Thursday. Hilde now weighs 18 1/2 pounds. The vet said we can expect Hilde to double in size by the end of the month! Agh!!!!!
