Merry Christmas part 2
Hilde is still enjoying Christmas fun. She has been happy to have us home. She also has been enjoying her Christmas presents. In addition to what you see in the pictures she also got a "busy bone". I would've taken a picture but the busy bone is LONG gone.
Here is Hilde with her Christmas haul. She also got a box of Milk Bones and the above mentioned Busy Bone.
Here is Hilde chewing on her squeaky present. It is by far her favorite of the Christmas presents.

Hilde's first Christmas
Merry Christmas! Hilde had a great day today. She loved Christmas- but what is not to love!? She got to open presents, eat a special puppy wet food Christmas brunch and play with her new toys and her cousin Britta. Hilde got some Milk Bones for Christmas. Here are pictures of her opening the box. She also got some other toys. Stay tuned for more Christmas fun pictures!

Hilde is part polar bear!
Hilde really loves the cold. It is has been quite cold here the last few weeks. Some days the wind chill has been close to -40. Hilde can't really tell us when she is cold, so we have been careful to limit walks on really cold days. Yesterday it wasn't so cold, but the wind was whipping and the snow was falling. I decided to take Hilde for her first snow shoe. We went through the woods by our house and out onto the lake. On the lake the snow was up to Hilde's chest. It didn't bother her at all. She loved it! She was really good around my snow shoes and only stepped on them a few times. I tried to take a bunch of other pictures further down the trail and on the lake, but the camera has been cranky for weeks and I think it has given up the ghost. Maybe Santa will bring Hilde and I a new one for Christmas!

More on Hilde this week
At last weigh in Hilde was over 75 pounds. This weekend we were looking at her and we are pretty sure she has gotten taller. We talked to our vet and decided that even though she is a big, big girl her weight is too high. We took Hilde off her puppy food and now she is eating adult food. She can have the same amount, but the adult food has less calories. Hopefully that will help her even out a bit and remain a healthy pup.
Ho Ho Hilde!
Phew it has been a busy week with Hilde and with Christmas coming up on us quickly. This week was fore casted to be VERY cold so we spent the weekend trying to wear Hilde out. On Saturday we took a 1 1/2 hour walk. Hilde met a new little puppy name Bali. She is a four month old black lab, which as you may know Hilde is a big fan of. Hilde and Bali romped and wrestled like crazy all over. Bali lost a tooth while wrestling and she bled all over Hilde! In the pictures below Hilde is wet because she had to have a bath after her coat got all icky.

It's a marshmallow world in the winter...
It is has been a snowy, snowy weekend. It snowed on Friday, Saturday and today on Sunday. We are supposed to get more tomorrow and through the week. If the promise of 3 or more inches of snow tomorrow holds true Hilde and I will go snow shoeing. Yipee! Today we got our Christmas tree. I think Hilde wonders why we get to bring this huge stick in the house and she has to drop all her finds at the door.
Here is Hilde hanging out the car window taking in all the tree lot action. She had quite a few admirers at the tree lot.

No graduation day for you
Puppy school drop-out
Missed your mid-terms and flunked drop the shoe
Ok- so it wasn't Hilde's fault. I think we signed her up for a too high of a level class and I will be the first to admit we weren't diligent enough in doing our homework. In my defense though she got about four pages of homework every class! Sheesh.

Happy Snow Day!!!!
This morning I woke up singing the "Snow" song from White Christmas. Well, guess what!?! I opened the curtains and it had snowed! Yipee! Hilde loves the snow. Since we don't have a fenced in yard and we don't like her on the tie out without us outside with her, sometimes she goes to the "puppy play pen". Ok it is the deck. But it lets her be outside safely.
She really does like it out there.

Snooooow- I want to wash my paws, my face and fur with snow....

Happy Winter!!!
Silly little pooch
Hilde likes to get in the shower. She also likes to put her head under the bathtub faucet and play in the water. She did that the other day and the back of her head got wet. The result was one little crazy curl in the back of her head. She looks like Dennis the Menace. Come to think of it sometimes she acts like him!

Hilde is SO tired!
We had a very busy weekend. Tired of the house being unorganized and a bit untidy I imposed fall/winter cleaning and it lasted all weekend. We cleaned windows, closets, drawers.... Nothing was safe. Happily for Hilde we were home all weekend and the breaks we did take were to entertain her. She got to play outside with her friend Coal a lot. They love to wrestle and run all over Coal's yard. We also went for quite a few very long walks. After being in the house working some fresh air was a welcome respite. On Sunday my Dad came over- he is the president of the farm puppy fan club. My Dad might spoil Hilde more than we do. As an added bonus Serena came over while my Dad was here. One of Hilde's favorite girls is Serena. So she had lots of play time and lots of visits this weekend. Below are some pictures from the snowy last weekend and beginning of the week. We got a little more snow up by our house then most of the metro.
Here is such a beautiful picture of Hilde. She looks like a picture book pup.
Hilde sees about 6-7 deer in the woods. If you look closely you can see one or two in the picture. She was very intent on watching them.

More puppies in the neighborhood and SNOW!!!
We had a little snow earlier this month, but last night we got some snow that stuck. That is great news for Hilde! She loves it! This morning she took her first step onto the snow and stopped in her tracks. She looked back at me, like "what in the world is this?" She put her nose in it and made tiny snowballs. She thought it was just great.
Here is Hilde checking out the snow. What is in there?
Here is one of Hilde's favorite friends, Coal. I let her play off leash with Coal and they ran around and slipped and slid and wrestled until they could go no more.

Day off with Hilde
Today I had the day off while we had a new furnace installed. Hilde really, really wanted to play with the tarps they had on the floor and even more she wanted to play with the five or so furnace guys that were in and on out of the house all day. So to amuse Hilde I gated her on the deck with a new, nummy, smoked meaty bone. She loved this bone.
Update on the bone: Hilde was up four times last night starting at about 2 am throwing up bone bits. Needless to say everyone is tired today and the bone is gone.
Here is Hilde outside in wet leaves in the sleet and she does NOT want to come in.

A day in the life of Hilde
Hilde had a bath today. She hasn't bathed since she get spayed so she was smelling a little funky. After rolling all over the carpet she settled in on her bed.
It has been cold here today so Hilde has been snuggling in her favorite blanket. It feels like what I think cookie monster would feel like. It is very soft.
Here is Hilde on her morning walk. She always brings a souvenir home. She is required to check them at the front door though. We figure she is contributing to the fireplace stash for Christmas.

Hilde's autumnal week
Last weekend was really nice and warm. Much different from this cold, blustery and snowy weekend. We spent most of Sunday outside trying to get all of the leaves cleaned up. It was and remains a losing battle. Hilde, however, had a grand time playing outside all day.
Here is Hilde smelling some very good fall smells.

Hilde's weigh in
Oh boy, oh boy. We took Hilde to Chuck and Don's today to get some new things to chew on. She has been REALLY chewy lately. We weighed her and.... are you ready??
Hilde is 69 pounds.

First grade started today!
Today Hilde started first grade. Ok- the class is called "Basic Manners" but is her second level of class so it must be first grade. She is clearly excelling when compared to her classmates even after the first class.

These are the puppies in your neighborhood
This entry begins the first installation of the puppies in the neighborhood. Hilde has lots of puppy buddies in the neighborhood. She likes to go over to her friends' houses to play and sometimes they come to our house to play. Last night her friend Riley came over for a romp. Riley's sister is Molly. Molly is not the biggest fan of Hilde. Maybe because Hilde out weighs her by 70,000 times and when they play she gets squashed.

Happy Halloween!
As promised here are pictures of Hilde's Halloween outfit! She had a great Halloween. She went trick-or-treating at some friend's houses and got some milkbones! She also went to the Halloween bonfire party across the street, which was fun but too much action for her to be good. She was not at all afraid of the kids in costumes. She thought it was great fun.

Hilde's first sort of snow
Today it snowed just a little (as of 4 this afternoon). We were hesitant to take Hilde out to play in the falling snow because of her incision, but she hardly even noticed the snow! She tried to chomp a few flakes, but quickly lost interest. I think if it was sticking it would have been more fun.
Here is Hilde going after Cleo the cat who went outside. If you look closely you can see her!
